AG. DG PAYS WORKING VISIT TO ASHANTI AND BONO REGIONS
The Director- General of the National Road Safety Authority (NRSA), Ing. David Osafo Adonteng in the company of representatives from the Ashanti and Bono East Regions attended a kick-off meeting on Friday, 10th February, 2023 at the NAC International Rest Stop, Akomadan.
The NRSA is collaborating with the NAC International Rest Stop, Akomadan in the Offinso North District of the Ashanti Region to provide a space for vigorous road safety activities. The partnership is such that NAC International will provide a permanent base for the NRSA to set up a Stay Alive Campaign Centre for road safety education, publicity, advocacy and coordinated enforcement.
The collaboration in effect is expected to encourage drivers who ply the Kumasi-Techiman highway “break the drive” after driving for long distances.
Ing. Adonteng appreciated the gesture and promised that the Authority will leverage on existing laws and directives to make the initiative see the light of day.
The Ashanti Regional Director, Mr. Alexander Ayattah, stated that the N10 was one of the notable black spots in the region and expressed that the project will help reduce the crashes recorded on that stretch to the barest minimum.
The Ag. Director-General extended his tour to the Bono Region where he paid a courtesy call on the Regional Minister, Hon. Justina Owusu-Banahene. The Minister thanked the NRSA for the interventions it had put in place to ensure sanity on the roads. Hon. Owusu-Banahene pledged the support of the Bono Regional Coordinating Council to road safety improvement.
Ing. Adonteng later met with the NRSA staff in the region. He was impressed with the new office location and commended the regional team for their hard work in reducing crashes in the Bono Region in 2022.
